What is the €19.90 ticket?
€19.90 tickets are tickets with a greatly reduced price, for long-distance trains operated by Deutsche Bahn. With these cheap tickets you can travel all over Germany.
For which trains are €19.90 tickets available?
€19.90 tickets can be booked on all routes with long-distance trains (ICE, IC, EC). It is also possible to combine local and long-distance trains (prices starting at €24.90). Regional trains (RE, IRE, RB), are not included in the €19.90 promotion.
How many €19.90 tickets are there?
In the current promotion period from 2 November to 19 November, a total of 1 million tickets for €19.90 will be offered. Unfortunately, Deutsche Bahn does not reveal how many tickets have already been sold. Therefore, the earlier you book, the better your chances of getting a bargain!
How many €19.90 tickets are available for which routes?
Unfortunately, Deutsche Bahn does not charge an exact number per route. Tickets are allocated per train, so there is only a certain number of tickets per route. How large these quotas are is unknown. This is why early booking is recommended, to make sure you can take advantage of this great deal.
How long does this promotion last? And what are the travel constraints?
The current travel period with this special offer runs until May 17, 2018. The booking period is from November 2-19, 2017. Tip: Even besides the current campaign, there is always a small number of €19.90 discount tickets available - all you have to do is look for them early.
When is the best time to book €19.90 tickets?
There are two things you should keep in mind to secure your discount tickets: First, you should book as far in advance as possible. Especially for popular routes, weekends and holidays the bargain tickets are quickly sold out - keyword: Christmas ;) Secondly, you should book in the morning. Why? Because DB usually releases new blocks of cheap tickets overnight. Especially during the early hours from Sunday to Monday.
Where can I buy €19.90 tickets?
You can buy the discounted special offer tickets not only at Deutsche Bahn but also at all official DB ticket partners, e. g. fromAtoB. de, verkehrsmittelvergleich.de and many more.
What is the difference between Sparpreis and Sparpreis Aktion?
Sparpreis tickets are usually much cheaper than Normalpreis tickets. Unlike Normalpreis tickets, they are bound to trains, which means that you are only allowed to travel with the trains that are printed on your ticket. In addition, rebooking and cancellation are chargeable in contrast to the normal price. Sparpreis Aktion tickets are only available in certain periods (currently from November 2-19, 2017) and they are often much cheaper than the standard Sparpreis tickets. They are subject to the same conditions as discounted tickets - with one exception: they are neither transferable nor reversible.
Should I reserve a seat?
You can always buy a ticket for every train of the DB - there are no fully booked trains at Deutsche Bahn. This has a big advantage and a big disadvantage. The huge advantage is that you can be sure that you can always take the train you have chosen. The disadvantage is that trains are often very busy at popular times and on popular routes. So it's often worthwhile to book a seat for an extra charge of €4.50.
How much do special offers for children's tickets cost?
Children up to and including 5 years of age travel free of charge without a ticket. Children from 6 to 14 years of age travel for free when accompanied by their parents or grandparents. In order for your children or grandchildren to be able to travel with you free of charge, you must include them in your booking.
Are there also special discount tickets for the 1st class?
Yes! From €29.90 you can also buy first class tickets. Since many bargain hunters don't have this on their radar, these tickets are usually not sold out as fast as second-class tickets. In addition, the upper class tickets include the seat reservation.
I missed my train - what now?
Sparpreis and Sparpreis Aktion tickets are tied to a specific train - you are only allowed to travel with the trains that are shown on the ticket. But, if you miss a connecting train due to the fault of the Deutsche Bahn you can take the next equivalent train to continue your journey - sleep and dawdle is not valid ;) . Equivalent means, that you may for example only use other regional trains as replacements for a missed regional train (and not an ICE/IC/EC), for an IC/EC only another IC/EC or also regional trains and as replacements for an ICE all long-distance as well as all local trains.
Tip: It is best to have a conductor or station employee confirm the delay in writing. This way you are definitely on the safe side.
Can someone else use my ticket?
Deutsche Bahn tickets are personalised, i. e. they are only valid in combination with your ID document. Unfortunately, you cannot pass on your ticket to another person.
Can I rebook the my Sparpreis Aktion tickets?
Train tickets in the category Sparpreis Aktion are not rebookable.
Can I cancel my Sparpreis Aktion tickets?
Unfortunately, you cannot cancel your Sparpreis Aktion ticket.
