Which airlines have the highest proportion of female pilots?
With the aviation industry constantly growing, a lack of women in the cockpit could have a negative impact.
We conducted research into different airlines to discover the proportion of female pilots working for each one, and found some interesting differences between them.
Our research is based on official data from an August 2019 report by the International Society of Women Airline Pilots.
Where this information was unavailable, we asked the airlines directly. The figures available for easyJet, Emirates, Flybe, SAS Scandinavian Airlines and Aeroflot Russia were only visible through the report and were not commented on by the company.
We also looked into Wizz Air, LOT Polish Airlines, Air Dolomiti, TAP Portugal, Iberia, Aegean Airlines, Alitalia, Vueling Airlines, Ryanair, and Turkish Airlines. The figures for these airlines were not available and spokespeople for the airlines themselves declined to comment.
